Organizing Your Home
Getting organized at home can be fun, if you have the right tools. If you are having trouble getting focused on where to begin and asking yourself “how do I get organized?” Let me help.
I have put together a list of my absolute favorite things when it comes to organizing.
These are products that will simplify your life, and if you’re like me, they will put a smile on your face every time you use them! These are MUST HAVES when it comes to organizing your home. I have prioritized the list of must haves. Check out the links below to see why these things are so important to me:
This is will be growing!
# 1 In Series MUST HAVE is a label maker.
Let’s face it! Getting organized is a process, physically and mentally. Everyone has their own setting on how long it takes to finish a project and how they go about it. So many give up because the rest of their family is not helping in the “keeping it organized” part of the process. Many family members do not care or even notice your efforts and this can be deflating. Or it could be that they do not know where you want things to go. Because we need help in keeping everything organized, it is in my opinion, essential that every home have a labeling machine. They are very inexpensive and it takes the guess work out of where things belong for husbands and children alike.
A labeling machine is the first thing you need when you start getting organized. No matter how small your project is, you need to get one of these guys. I love mine and I use it all the time, I’m actually addicted to it. It is so much fun to use!
You know those heavy boxes and containers that are on top of your closet? Why get them down to dig through them when you can see from where you are standing the list of what’s inside? And because this machine prints in a large font makes it very easy to see.
I am an storage container and labeling junkie! Especially in my kitchen as well as my sewing & craft supplies. Reason being, I like to find what I am looking for quickly. I have a cabinet in my kitchen that is dedicated as a medicine cabinet. I keep small storage containers in there that separate categories. For example: Cold and allergy products in one that is clearly labeled. One for basic first aid, ointments, thermometers (yes I have several kinds), stomach upset, etc. A larger container is at the top that contains ace bandages, slings, braces, etc for the occasional sprain.
Why do I do this? If one of my grandchildren gets a boo boo and I need to doctor it quickly, as soon as I open this cabinet I see exactly what I need. No time for foraging through allergy & stomach products when all I need is basic first aid. It also works great when a visitor is helping me and goes to look for a band aid. Once I tell them where the correct cabinet is, I don’t have to explain where the band aids are. They know exactly where they are as soon as they open the cabinet door.
The same goes for craft & sewing supplies: All of my crafty stuff is categorized as well. For example: Paints and Paint Brushes, ribbons, trims, glue gun and glue sticks, pompoms, pipe cleaners, etc. So if I have a quick project I want to do, why would I want to dig through all of my scrapbooking stuff and everything else, when all I need is some glitter? If the container is labeled “Glitter and Glue” it is instantly in your hand!
Using the machine not only helps you find things quickly, but it also gives everything a very cohesive and organized look with it’s easy to read professionally printed fonts. Plus it just makes you feel good! :)
Is my house perfect? Absolutely not!!! If you ask me where something is, will I be able to tell you or get it for you immediately? Absolutely YES!!!!!!!

Customer Reviews
Much better than the dynamo one I had previously! I like that it uses the TZ tape cartridges that are laminated. I also like the typewriter style keyboard.
This is a great little label maker. It has some great options including adding fun symbols and shapes like hearts, stars and different fonts to your labels. I’ve used it to label glass containers in our pantry for baking items and love the neat and easy to read look of it. Very user friendly and easy way to keep things organized. Of course like all label makers I’ve used, it seems to use up more tape than I’d like but this one offers a great solution by giving you the “narrow margin” option. This avoids the extra inch margin on either end of your label. Great! I find myself looking for things to label just so I can use this labeler.
firstly, i like the vibrancy of colors, which makes it even more appealing. the battery life seems to be great, too. i haven’t had to replace them yet, and i’ve labeled quite a few things, not to mention have on (rare) occasion left it on for a bit.
so, i’m happy with my purchase.
#2 In Series MUST HAVE your own tool kit.
How many times have we gone to our husbands garage to look for a hammer and a nail just to hang a picture? This used to really get on my nerves, especially since our garage is detached from the house. So if it was raining, ugh, such an inconvenience. For me, I am married to a man with O.C.D when it comes to his tools. You guys think I like to be organized? He tops the cake in that department. Anytime I would mention that I was going to get a hammer and a nail, he would say “I will get it for you,” simply because he didn’t want me messing with his tools.
He never understood why I wouldn’t just ask him to hang a picture for me. Well, the last time I did that he came in with 3 power tools, a 8 ft level, and a stud finder. Are you kidding me? Just give the hammer and nail!!! I love him with all of my heart, but please, 2 hours to hang a 8 x 10 frame? No thanks!
So years ago, I mentioned to him that I wanted my own tool kit to keep in the house. He liked the idea and actually surprised me with one. I was so excited. Not many women would get excited over this, but hey, I own as many power tools as he does. I keep the big power tools in the garage!
Having my own tool kit is essential for organization in the home and wonderful because everything I need is right at my finger tips. He actually uses it for quick projects in the house. Now, I have become a little O.C.D with my own tools, especially when he accidentally takes one to the garage, which brings me to this; when you get a tool kit, get a pink one with pink tools. Your husband will not accidentally take them to his garage. Ahhhh the power of pink.
The following kit is one I highly recommend. Not only does it come with basic tools, but it has room for other things too like a small container of nails, picture hangers and your label maker. And it’s PINK !!!!!!!!
It has a five star rating
- Multi purpose tool bag
- Heavy duty zippers
- Tools have comfortable grips and handles
- Great for home, dorms, cars or at the office
- The Orignal Pink box 12 inch tool bag & tool set. Set includes 12 once hammer, 16 ft self locking tape measure, 6 ” needle nose plier, 6″ slip joint plier, 8pc SAE Key Set in holder, Bit Driver, 10pc 1” Bits, 4pc Precision Screwdrivers ( #0, #1, #2.4mm and #3.0mm), all in a durable 12″ pink tool bag
Product reviews:
First, let me say, I was informed up front it would not come until after Christmas on the 28th. My wife had been asking for her “own” tools for 2 years, which I could not understand given we had the same tools already that she could use at anytime. I relented, and let me tell you, the quality was great, and the surprise and excitement from my wife in having her “own” tools was surprising to me, but it made her very happy.
The seller?… Can’t say enough good things… The product actually came 4 days BEFORE Christmas and in great condition. Definitely exceeded my expectations. Price was great too. Bag is big enough for her to buy many more “tools” and other items such as things for hanging pictures, nails, other tools and supplies, very expandable use. Well work the look on my wife’s face. Thank you Original Pink Box and Amazon!
Not only is this set adorable, the tools are better than expected. The bag is a nice quality & well-balanced & can hold significantly more tools than come w/ it. The tools are decent & will work for medium sized fix-it-around-the-house small projects. Obviously, my husband is not borrowing these to build a deck, but he thought they were a better grade than the last type we bought for our daughter.
We did add another tool pack because we wanted “better” screwdrivers (the ones that come w/ the set have snap in heads) – the “IIT Ladies Pink Combination Set – Snap Blade Knife, 2 Piece Screwdriver Set and 6″ Adjustable Wrench”. We also added a set of pink locking plyers + a pair of pink safety glasses to the kit.
# 3 In Series….Colorful Storage
I love to think outside of the box (no pun intended) when it comes to storage containers. Yes, I like color, however that comes in many forms. I am a more monochromatic when it comes to my color selections, if it is going to be part of my home decor such as baskets for magazines or decorative storage anywhere in my home.
However, when it comes to inside the pantry, cabinets & closets, I like to mix it up with color. Sort of the way a decorator will mix and match coordinating patterns and textures. Find containers that compliment each other. When you do that, your organized space will make you all warm and fuzzy inside.

Beautiful New Closet Collections
When we set out to create our very own collection of closet organizers, we had to do it with excellence and unparalleled style. We wanted to improve upon designs already in the marketplace (for example, an Overdoor Shoe Bag with pockets big enough for men’s shoes and a Closet Rod Shoe Bag wide enough to hold a pair of shoes side-by-side). We also wanted the organizers to fit perfectly on elfa Shelving. After sourcing the highest quality materials and designing some of these gorgeous patterns ourselves, we’re now pleased to introduce our exclusive collections!
