Is Your Marriage Marinating, Or Loosing Flavor?
This is off topic for me, but it’s whats on my heart today!
Have you ever had a really good idea or invention in your mind that you sure nobody has ever thought of? You know, like that the lady that invented some special ponytail holder and made millions.
Maybe it is the entrepreneur/creative side of my personality, because it is quite common for me to lay awake at night thinking that I have thought of that magic formula for a product, only to get up the next morning, Google the idea and find it was thought of 20 years ago. Do any of you do that?
Over the years I have driven my husband crazy having to listen to all of my hair brain ideas.
However as I get older these episodes are getting fewer and farther between, which is good for my sleep and his as well.
Bless his heart he doesn’t have an entrepreneur’s bone in his body. How he has put up with me all these years is truly a miracle.
The fact that he supported me when I decided to stay home and start this blog actually surprised me. I mean REALLY surprised me. Miracles never cease.
I believe when you have been married as long as we have, you become more of a team while being more considerate of each other’s passions. If there was ever an example of opposites attract, we are it. We still run into people that are shocked we are still married.
Marinating our marriage over the years has helped us to respect each other’s passions. You see, when we marinate over time, all of the differences and flavors come together to make a new flavor. Yes I have become more interested in guns & four wheelers and he has become more interested in what I am writing about or what craft I am working on. Don’t get me wrong, I am not claiming to be an expert on marriage. Even the thought is comical. However, from experience I do know this; if you are not embracing each other’s differences you are not marinating, your marriage is souring.
I guess you could say my husband and I are now comfortable being opposites. It definitely makes things more interesting. We do share some passions! Believe it or not, my husband is even more organized than I am. You should see his closet! “Sir, Ready to pass inspection. Sir!!!”
He doesn’t want cool containers & closet organizers like me. Just give him a ruler so he can line up his boots and he is happy. You think I am kidding? Sometimes I will move his stuff around just to mess with him. :)
I am a blessed woman what can I say. The tough years have paid off. Were they hard? You bet, but they were worth it.
